SEATS ON SALE - Good Ones Can Be Secured - The Bernhardt Engagement
The State, Wednesday, January 16, 1892

On account of the weather being so bad, the box-office of the Theatre will be open this evening until 7 o'clock to enable parties desirous of securing seats for the Bernhardt engagement to do so. Some of our Best-known citizens have already purchased seats in the Family Circle, but some of the best seats are still left; also a few in the orchestra. This is the only opportunity Richmond theatre-goers will ever have to see this remarkable woman unless they take a trip to New York to do so. On Monday and Tuesday she will present two of her greatest roles, and the prices are the lowest she has ever played to in America. The audience will be the largest and most cultivated ever seen in Richmond, and being in fall dreww will present a most brilliant spectacle. The house has been scoured from top to bottom, and the swinging doors arranged differently to prevent the draft that has been felt by those in the back rows of the orchestra. La Tosca and Camille will long be remembered by our theatre-goers, who will tell their future grandchildren of this greatest theatrical event known in Richmond's history. The few seats that were sold at auction and have not yet been called for will be put on sale Monday at 1 o'clock, unless the purchasers settle for them in the meantime.
