The Hollywood Memorial Association was formed on May 3, 1866 by the women of Richmond. In 1869 the Association erected this 90-foot pyramid to mark the soldier's graves. The Association also removed bodies of Confederates from many of the battlefields around Richmond and reinterred them in Hollywood Cemetery. |
