The Old Bell Tower

The OLD BELL TOWER near southwest comer of Capitol Square, Richmond, is a mellowed red brick building. The little thickset square tower was built in 1824, replacing one of wood.

Calls to the colors have pealed from both towers. In 1865, this bell pealed to the old men and children of Richmond - TO ARMS ! The invasion of our beloved city is imminent!
