On an 1865 military Civil War map, the road to Mr. Hilliard's house started west from Brook Turnpike and continued west to what now is called Impala Drive, and another road traveled west across the railroad tracks eventually to Deep Run Turnpike. The road that is now called Impala Drive traveled on to John Staple's Mill. The pictures below were made on Mr. Hilliard's homestead property. |

Other people lived along that road to Mr. Hilliard's house. The Warren and N. King family lived near Clarke's Mill across from Mr. Hilliard. |

Mrs. Carter lived west of Mr. Hilliard on the same side of the road. |

Col. J. L. Davis' home was located at the end of the road to the far west just before reaching the railroad tracks. |

Other forgotten souls named Saunders, Bowman, Staples and Gardner lived in this area. Mrs. Mordecia's home was near Broome's Tavern, near what now is called Bryan Park.
